While all tiles and finishes were selected by the client and design team, the Philton crew was responsible for executing those selections to the highest standard. “We worked strictly to the construction drawings and tile schedules to deliver everything to spec and on time,” Tony explained.

“Our focus was on clean, accurate installations with consistent quality throughout,” Tony said. That quality-first mindset helped ensure the finishes complemented the premium look and feel of the broader Floret Glen Waverley design vision.


Philton Group has expanded its business footprint with the recent acquisition of TILEPRO Australia and Melbourne Home Centre, adding the capacity for a tile and bathware showroom in Epping, as well as a warehouse to support wholesale supply to other tilers and builders. “This helps us offer better service, faster lead times, and a full end-to-end solution for our clients,” Tony said.

With 11 years of industry experience and a team of 30, the company deployed 20 skilled professionals to deliver a comprehensive flooring package across the multi-storey development.

The scope of Silver Trading’s work included tiling, carpet tiles, vinyl, rubber flooring, and floor preparation—covering every single surface within the student housing complex. It was the company’s first collaboration with Richard Crookes Construction, and Director Patrick Yu says it was a standout opportunity to showcase the team’s expertise.

“This project really tested our team in all the right ways,” Patrick said. “There were some intricate geometric shapes in the lobby design that required precision cutting and careful execution. Luckily, our experienced installers made light work of it.”

Additional challenges included a complex mixed carpet tile design in the corridors and the logistical hurdles of operating in a tight inner-city environment. “Being in the city made material delivery planning critical,” Patrick explained. “We had to coordinate everything closely to ensure the project stayed on track.”

“We completed floor preparation, tiling, and waterproofing across both buildings,” Yahya said. “That included high-use areas like the pool surrounds, change rooms, balconies, kitchen, and café, spaces that needed to look great but also handle serious wear and tear.”

As a high-performance training facility for elite athletes, every surface needed to combine durability, safety, and visual appeal. Yahya and his experienced crew of 20 delivered on that brief, working closely with other trades to ensure consistency across finishes. Their scope also included paving works, helping shape both the indoor and outdoor experience for players and visitors alike.

One of the most demanding elements was the pool surround tiling, which required careful planning and flawless waterproofing to ensure long-term performance. “There’s no room for shortcuts in an environment like this,” Yahya added. “Everything needs to be durable, slip-resistant, and visually aligned with the centre’s world-class design.”
