Silver Trading Timber Flooring, a Sydney-based leader in flooring solutions, has brought technical mastery and attention to detail to the Wee Hur Student Accommodation project in Redfern. With 11 years of industry experience and a team of 30, the company deployed 20 skilled professionals to deliver a comprehensive flooring package across the multi-storey development.
The scope of Silver Trading’s work included tiling, carpet tiles, vinyl, rubber flooring, and floor preparation—covering every single surface within the student housing complex. It was the company’s first collaboration with Richard Crookes Construction, and Director Patrick Yu says it was a standout opportunity to showcase the team’s expertise.
“This project really tested our team in all the right ways,” Patrick said. “There were some intricate geometric shapes in the lobby design that required precision cutting and careful execution. Luckily, our experienced installers made light work of it.”
Additional challenges included a complex mixed carpet tile design in the corridors and the logistical hurdles of operating in a tight inner-city environment. “Being in the city made material delivery planning critical,” Patrick explained. “We had to coordinate everything closely to ensure the project stayed on track.”
