Polytan is the synthetic field contractor overseeing the installation of the multipurpose synthetic turf at the Blacktown Exercise Sports and Technology Centre.

Polytan was responsible for completing the turf installation as the final element of the sports field. Taking over from the prepared subgrade, Polytan began by effectively constructing a car park to meet the requirements for optimal sports performance, before installing the Australian made LigaTurf Cross 250 artificial turf with Brockfill. Notably, this installation marks the debut of this turf system and the organic infill in Australia, setting a new benchmark for excellence.

“That’s when the exciting stuff happens. This field is the first of its kind in Australia,” said Sales Manager, Lachlan Graham. The organic performance infill is made from wood chips rather than recycled tyres. “The initial outlay is a little more expensive than products with rubber infills,” said Lachlan. “However, the organic product is better for the environment and is a slightly cooler system in terms of temperature on ground.”

Performance capacity of the surface meets all of the national and international standards for major sporting codes including FIFA, World Rugby, AFL and Cricket Australia.

Polytan has installed hundreds of these surfaces across the USA through sister company AstroTurf and more recently several fields in New Zealand.
