Known for their precision and attention to architectural detail, the GMR Interiors team was tasked with the installation of high-performance ceilings, partitions, and stud framing that define the South Australian Sports Institute’s unique interior spaces.

Spanning an impressive 4,900m² of partitions on the ground level, 3,800m² on Level 1, and 3,600m² on Level 2, along with 2,200m² of external framing, GMR Interiors brought scale and sophistication to each area.

Complementing these partitions, ceilings were installed across 2,700m² on the Ground Level, 3,100m² on Level 1, and 2,800m² on Level 2, providing a seamless and functional design throughout the institute.

“Our role in this project was extensive,” said Seth Powell, Project Manager at GMR Interiors. “We handled everything from insulation and plasterboard to the Level 5 finishes for the Central Heart stairs — a feature that stands at an impressive 11m.”

The work included custom 13m high partition walls for the basketball court, delivering durability and refined aesthetics suited to high-traffic sports environments.

Due to the complex slab heights and custom design requirements, GMR Interiors adapted their approach with meticulous planning and execution. “We used custom-made interior stud work and plasterboard from local suppliers to meet the project’s high standards and curved architectural design,” added Gary Powell, Managing Director. This locally sourced, high-quality material allowed GMR to deliver robust structural support while honouring the intricate aesthetic requirements of the space.

With over 70 team members deployed at peak times, the project required intense coordination across multiple trades and building floors. The success of the installation hinged on strategic pre-planning to align material logistics with the project’s condensed schedule. “Delivering such a high-quality finish in a short program was a challenge, but it speaks to our team’s commitment to excellence,” Seth noted.

GMR Interiors innovative methods and seemless coordination has set a new benchmark in the creation of dynamic spaces

East Group Interiors delivered high-quality cladding and internal linings, bringing bold architectural vision to life.

East Coast Interiors

When TOGA Group set out to deliver the ambitious MADE Marrickville project, they knew it would require trusted trade professionals capable of delivering both style and substance.

One of those key collaborators was East Group Interiors, a Sydney-based gyprock and cladding specialist that brought exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to the table.

Founded in 2021 by William Liu—following nearly a decade at the helm of East Group Construction—East Group Interiors has quickly earned a reputation for high-quality internal and external lining and cladding works. “We specialise in gyprock works, focusing on both internal and external applications,” said Operations Director Steven Zou.

Their scope at MADE Marrickville was extensive, covering internal plasterboard walls and ceilings, Alpha Panel concrete partition lining, and external Alpha Panel cladding. The striking green aluminium feature blades that wrap the building façade are a standout on the project.

“It’s a perfect combination,” says Steven. “We were honoured that TOGA trusted us with both cladding packages—and we didn’t disappoint.”

The project wasn’t without its challenges. “The programme was extremely tight, but we brought in experienced workers and maintained a high standard,” Steven explains. “Even over Christmas, we only took one week off. William and I always believe in under-promising and over-delivering.”

Perhaps most rewarding was seeing the architect’s industrial vision come to life. “At first, we questioned using Alpha Panel as cladding—it’s a raw material, not a finished one. But once we understood the design intent, we focused intensely on quality. Now, the façade looks fantastic.”

Steven credits their success to a values-led approach. “Honesty, integrity, and transparency—that’s how we run our business. That’s how we keep delivering for our customers.”
