Formwork Processor delivered complex concrete features with precision, showcasing durability, innovation, and architectural excellence.

Formwork Processor

Formwork Processor played a crucial role in delivering high-quality formwork and concrete features for the Forma & Contra project, bringing structural excellence and architectural innovation to the development. With a decade of industry experience, the company specialises in reinforced concrete structures, modular formwork systems, and intricate architectural finishes, ensuring durability, safety, and aesthetic appeal.

For this project, Formwork Processor was responsible for all formwork and concrete features, including: planter boxes on the rooftop and courtyard, pitched concrete roofs on the townhouses, concrete tapers under balconies to hide step-downs, BBQ areas on the rooftop, and all beams and walls within the basement.

“This project required precise execution due to the complexity of its concrete elements,” said Raymond Jabbour, from Formwork Processor. “From curved planter box upturns to intricate concrete skylights, our team overcame significant challenges to achieve a flawless architectural finish.”

The angled concrete roofs and curved façade elements presented technical difficulties, requiring meticulous formwork design and skilled craftsmanship. “One of the biggest challenges was delivering the off-form concrete planter box upturns and angled roof structures,”Jabbour explained. “These features demanded high precision and extensive labour to ensure they complemented the overall architectural vision.”

Formwork Processor are working on a number of other projects, including Skyview, Castle Hill for Aland (600 units), Zetland 888 Bourke Street for TQM (350 units), Wentworthville for OGP (60 units), Lidcombe for MNR GROUP (50 units), Luminar for TQM (80 units), Addison Road mixed use development for TQM and Auburn for Meteay Development (60 units).

With a 40-person workforce, including subcontractors led by Director Samir Tawk, Formwork Processor ensured smooth project execution, integrating strength, efficiency, and superior finishing techniques. Their expertise in high-rise and large-scale developments continues to set industry benchmarks, reinforcing their reputation as a leading provider of advanced formwork solutions in Australia.

Sandhub supplied quality sand, aggregates, and soils, ensuring structural integrity, sustainability, and smooth project delivery.

Sandhub

Sandhub played a critical role in supplying high-quality sand, aggregates, and soil solutions for the Forma & Contra project, ensuring the development met both structural integrity and sustainability standards.

With a focus on efficiency, reliability, and eco-friendly solutions, Sandhub provided a comprehensive range of materials to support construction, tiling, and landscaping.

As a trusted partner in civil works and commercial projects, Sandhub supplied essential materials, including White Brickie Sand, Newcastle Sand, recycled aggregates, quarry-spec aggregates, topsoils, garden mix, planter box mix, road base, and crusher dust. These materials were used for face brickwork, road base under slabs and retaining walls, bedding for tiling with sand and cement, and landscaping with soils and bark.

“Our focus is always on providing the right materials to meet strict industry standards for durability and performance,” said Steven Taouk, Operations Manager at Sandhub. “For the Forma & Contra project, we ensured that every material delivered was tested and specified for its intended application.”

A key aspect of the project was environmental responsibility, with recycled road base and aggregates incorporated to reduce waste and promote sustainable construction.

“Sustainability is at the core of what we do,” Steven explained. “By using recycled materials, we help reduce the project’s environmental footprint without compromising quality.”

The success of the project was also attributed to seamless coordination with Buildform, ensuring materials were delivered on time and as scheduled. “Buildform is an exceptionally organised construction company,” Steven noted. “Their efficient scheduling made it a pleasure to deliver materials, keeping the project running smoothly.”

Sandhub’s commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and quality sets a benchmark for future large-scale developments, demonstrating the importance of eco-friendly material sourcing and streamlined logistics in modern construction. The company has a number of projects in development, including Bangaroo and Darling Harbour.

Izzat Consulting delivered innovative façade engineering solutions, balancing complex design, structural performance, and sustainability

Izzat Consulting Engineers

Izzat Consulting Engineers provided façade engineering expertise, including waterproofing design on the Forma & Contra project. The architectural vision required a high-volume of custom-designed components to achieve both the design and meet the structural requirements.

“As façade engineers, we had to design and document multiple architectural features, including louvres, screens, balustrades, window hoods, and corbels, ensuring the head contractor, Buildform, and their subcontractors had the detailed specifications needed to construct these elements,” explained Brett Brown, Director and Technical Manager at Izzat,.

“One of the major innovations was the laser-cut aluminium handrail, which not only met the architectural intent but also complied with structural performance standards,” Brett noted. Izzat also designed a brick screen with strategically placed openings to balance ventilation, light, and privacy while maintaining structural integrity against wind loads and other building regulations.

“Efficient design is key to minimising environmental impact,” Brett said. “We meticulously considered material selection, structural longevity, and compliance with industry standards to reduce the risk of premature maintenance and remedial work. Too often, we see buildings that aren’t designed with durability in mind, leading to costly repairs. By integrating long-term efficiency into our designs, we ensure a more sustainable outcome.”

Collaboration was integral to the project’s success. “Buildform managed the design process seamlessly, organising regular design workshops where all consultants could work through competing priorities,” Brett said. This approach allowed greater flexibility and problem-solving, ensuring that engineering, architecture, and budget constraints were all effectively balanced.

Reflecting on the project, Brown highlighted the importance of adaptive design thinking. “Engineering is about problem-solving, and this project reinforced the need for creativity in developing alternative solutions that meet structural, aesthetic, and financial requirements simultaneously.”

F&Co provided sustainable, energy-efficient lighting solutions, enhancing architectural aesthetics, functionality, and environmental performance.

F&Co

F&Co delivered a suite of high-performance lighting solutions that enhanced both the architectural beauty and sustainability of the Forma and Contra project. Tasked with the specification, design, and supply of both indoor and outdoor lighting, F&Co brought expertise that elevated the entire built environment.

“Our lighting design was critical in shaping the atmosphere throughout the project,” said Fred Frangi, Director at F&Co.
“By focusing on aspects such as light quality, reflection, and ambiance, we were able to strike the right balance between practical functionality and architectural beauty.”

From entryways to landscaped surrounds, F&Co delivered a mix of architectural, functional, and emergency lighting solutions, all using energy-efficient LED products. Carefully selected to complement the project’s innovative interiors and exteriors, the lighting scheme enhanced the architectural form while ensuring long-term usability.

Sustainability was front of mind for F&Co, aligning with Forma & Contra’s broader environmental goals. “We prioritised the use of low-voltage LED lighting products that offer substantial energy savings compared to traditional lighting solutions,” said Barry Barakat, Business Development Manager. “All the lighting products supplied were made from fully recyclable materials, minimising the project’s environmental impact. We also considered the lifecycle of the products, ensuring that they were not only energy-efficient but also long-lasting, reducing the need for frequent replacements.”

A key factor in the project’s success was F&Co’s ability to integrate seamlessly with other trades. “We worked closely with the construction team, architects, and electrical contractors to align our lighting solutions with the design intent and project timeline,” Fred said. “By maintaining regular communication and rigorous quality control, we ensured everything was delivered and installed smoothly.”

Reflecting on the project, Barry added, “The big takeaway for us was how essential coordination is on large-scale developments like this. It reinforced our focus on collaboration and innovation in creating sustainable, design-led lighting solutions for future projects.”
